How to add mosaic or blur to images
What Mosaic and Blur Look Like
Mosaic breaks the selected area into visible blocks. The processing is clearly visible, which makes it useful for reducing detail while keeping a sense of the background. Blur softens edges and details, making it a natural way to make a person or background less noticeable.
In MistSeal, you can set the range on the canvas and adjust the strength. In Easy Mode, you can choose from three levels: light, medium, and strong. In Advanced Mode, you can set a precise value between 0 and 100.
Useful for Faces and Backgrounds, but Be Careful with Text
Mosaic and blur work well for reducing detail in faces, backgrounds, or areas that are not the main subject. For example, they can be used to tone down a room in the background, a passerby, or something you do not want to draw attention to.
However, for names, addresses, phone numbers, order numbers, and QR codes, it is safer to use a solid cover rather than relying only on blur or mosaic. Depending on the image resolution, text size, and strength of the effect, it may still be possible to infer the content.
How to Use It in MistSeal
Open an image, then add a mosaic or blur layer. Move the range on the canvas and resize it as needed. While the layer is selected, a blue outline appears so you can check the affected area.
When you export, mosaic and blur are rendered into the output image rather than remaining as visual-only layers. For guidance on choosing between the two, see Mosaic or blur: which should you use?.
Edit an Image
Use Easy Mode for quick hiding, or Advanced Mode for detailed layers, logos, and export settings.
