What Tokyo Station & Marunouchi is like

Marunouchi combines Tokyo Station's red-brick facade, a modern business district, and the greenery beside the Imperial Palace within a compact walking area. It is on the west side of the station, opposite Yaesu, so choose the Marunouchi North, Central, or South exit before leaving the concourse.

The station facade alone takes about an hour, but allow half a day if you plan to enter the Imperial Palace East Gardens and continue to Tokyo International Forum. Weekday lunch hours are busy with office workers; morning is easier for unhurried photos.

Stations and access

Use the Marunouchi North, Central, or South exits at JR Tokyo Station. Tokyo Metro's Marunouchi Line and Nijubashimae Station are alternatives; Otemachi can be closer to an entrance of the East Gardens.
