Tsukiji Area Guide
Plan a morning route through Tsukiji Outer Market, Hongwanji Temple, Namiyoke Shrine, Tsukiji Uogashi, and nearby Hama-rikyu Gardens.
What Tsukiji is like
Although the wholesale market moved to Toyosu, Tsukiji Outer Market remains active with seafood, dry goods, kitchen tools, and restaurants. Professional buyers also use the narrow lanes, so do not stop in circulation routes and check where queues begin.
Many businesses operate from morning to early afternoon, making Tsukiji a morning destination rather than an evening one. Add Hongwanji's distinctive architecture and Namiyoke Shrine, then walk to Hama-rikyu if time permits.
Stations and access
Tsukiji Station on the Hibiya Line is near Hongwanji; Tsukijishijo Station on the Oedo Line is convenient for the market's south side and Hama-rikyu.
Major places to visit

A dense market district of seafood, prepared foods, dry goods, and restaurants. Follow each shop's eating rules and do not carry rubbish into another business.

Official information →Namiyoke Shrine
A small shrine closely connected to Tsukiji's history on the market's southwest side. Groups should avoid occupying the compact grounds for long periods.

Two buildings house seafood, produce, and related retailers. Public access hours and market holidays differ, so consult the official schedule.
Official information →Hama-rikyu Gardens
