Nihonbashi Area Guide
Walk from Nihombashi to Mitsukoshimae for the historic bridge, Coredo Muromachi, the Currency Museum, Mitsui Memorial Museum, and Fukutoku Shrine.
What Nihonbashi is like
Nihonbashi centers on the bridge historically used as the starting point of Japan's major highways, surrounded by long-established shops, financial institutions, and modern complexes. It is walkable from Tokyo Station, but Nihombashi and Mitsukoshimae stations make a compact visit easier.
Combine the bridge with the admission-free Currency Museum, Fukutoku Shrine, and food or shopping in the Muromachi blocks to see both historical and contemporary Nihonbashi. Museums have separate closing days and entry procedures.
Stations and access
Nihombashi Station is convenient for the south side of the bridge; Mitsukoshimae is better for Muromachi and the Currency Museum. From Tokyo Station, begin on the Yaesu side.
