What Nakameguro is like

Nakameguro is famous for river cherry blossoms, but outside bloom season it still offers railway-arch businesses, a Japanese-painting museum, and small riverside shops. Decide whether to walk east or west from the station to avoid an unnecessarily long return.

Bloom season creates extreme crowding and may introduce one-way routes and eating rules. At other times this is a residential district; walk quietly and keep alternatives if the famous roastery has a long wait.

Stations and access

Tokyu and Hibiya Line Nakameguro Station is close to the river. The roastery and Sky Garden lie toward Ikejiri-ohashi and are best treated as a one-way extension.

  • Riverside walks
  • Cherry blossoms
  • Cafés
  • Japanese painting
