What Ikebukuro is like

Ikebukuro divides clearly between Sunshine City and anime retailers on the east, and theatres and historic architecture on the west. The station is large, so grouping each side into a separate part of the day avoids repeated underground crossings.

Sunshine City alone can take several hours with its aquarium, observatory, and shops. Popular anime stores may use timed entry or queues, so check official notices before joining a line.

Stations and access

Use the East Exit for Sunshine-dori and Sunshine City. Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre is west of the station; Myonichikan is closer to the Metropolitan Exit. Higashi-ikebukuro connects underground to Sunshine City.
