What Asahikawa is like

Asahiyama Zoo requires a bus from the station and should not be treated like a central walk-in attraction. Give it half a day and reserve the remaining time for the city center.

Winter changes both animal viewing and transport conditions. For suburban craft or sake venues, check hours and bus frequency and choose one rather than overloading the day.

Stations and access

Use Asahikawa Station for the walkable center and the station bus for a return trip to Asahiyama Zoo. Confirm timetables before combining multiple suburban venues.

  • Families visiting the zoo
  • Hokkaido furniture and crafts
  • Rail base for northern Hokkaido
